Valentine’s Day Macaroni Necklace

By Joanna Young

Your preschooler will adore wearing this macaroni-beaded Valentine’s Day necklace with heart pendant. Made from dry macaroni, red food coloring, yarn, and red foam paper, this Valentine’s Day Macaroni Necklace is simple to make and fun to wear!

Materials You Will NeedDifficulty Level 1 out of 5

18” piece of yarn
Dry macaroni
Red food coloring
Red foam paper
Pen
Scissors
Paper towels
Heart shaped cookie cutter
Two heart shaped beads

How to Make It

Step 1:

In a large bowl, mix ten drops of red food coloring in one cup of cold water. Stir.

Step 2:

Drop the dry macaroni into the tinted water and stir around. Allow the macaroni to soak for about five minutes. Remove the macaroni and place on paper towels. Allow to dry.

Step 3:

With the heart shaped cookie cutter, draw and trace a heart from the red foam paper. With the scissors, cut a small hole in the top.

Step 4:

Double up the yarn and push the bent end into the hole in the foam heart. Thread the loose ends through the loop and tighten. Once your preschool heart pendant is centered in the middle of the necklace, string the dried and tinted macaroni onto the yarn.

Step 5:

Tie the heart shaped beads onto each loose end, then tie around your preschooler’s neck for a fun and cute Valentine’s Day necklace!

Additional Idea

Decorate the heart pendant with glittery fabric paint and your preschooler’s photo for a more personalized look.
