Mother’s Day Preschool Handprint Placemat
This easy preschool Mother’s Day craft makes the perfect addition to Mommy’s breakfast in bed tray. Dad, grab your preschooler and slip away to your local discount department store or shop online to purchase an inexpensive cloth placemat (Mom’s favorite color, of course) and fabric paint—no brushes needed! You and your preschooler will love this easy preschool craft that is sure to become Mommy’s favorite Mother’s Day memory!
Materials You Will Need
Cloth placemat
Shiny fabric paint (squeezable bottle)
Fabric paint (several colors)
Paper plates
How to Make It
Note: Put a big old t-shirt on your preschooler before beginning this craft. Fabric paint is permanent!
Step 1:
Iron out any wrinkles in the cloth placemat. Lay flat to begin painting.Step 2:
Pour a small amount of fabric paint onto a paper plate. Use as many colors and paper plates as you desire.
Step 3:
After washing your preschooler’s hands, allow him/her to press his/her palms into the paint. Use a clean paper plate to lightly press off any excess paint.
Step 4:
Press your preschooler’s handprints onto the cloth placemat in random places.
Step 5:
With the squeezable bottle of shiny fabric paint, write “Happy Mother’s Day 2007 from (Your Child’s Name)”. Allow to dry.
Be sure to hide the Mother’s Day Preschool Handprint Placemat from Mom until the big day!
Additional Ideas
Your preschooler might want to decorate the Mother’s Day Preschool Handprint Placemat with items such as sequins, small silk flowers, faux jewels, ribbons, etc. Just be sure to attach them with permanent fabric glue.
