Snowman

White polymer clay 8 oz.
Red polymer clay 1 oz.
Black polymer clay 1 oz.
Orange polymer clay 1 oz.
2 small twigs

How to Make It

Note: Before working with polymer clay, it's a good idea to warm it with your hands before molding. This prevents cracking and makes the clay more pliable.

Step 1:

Roll most of the white clay into 3 balls: small, medium, and large. Stack into a snowman body. Roll remaining white clay into a circle about 1/2" thick and form into a flat base for the snowman to stand.

Step 2:

With black clay, roll tiny balls for "coal" eyes and mouth. Press into snowman's face.

Step 3:

With orange clay, form a cone-shaped "carrot" nose and press into snowman's face.

Step 4:

Place red clay between two sheets of waxed paper. Roll flat. With plastic knife, cut a long strip to make the snowman's scarf. At both ends of the scarf, create a tassled look by scoring with the plastic knife. Wrap the scarf around the snowman's neck.

Step 5:

From the flattened red clay, cut out a circle, using the soup can. Cut a slit from the center of the circle. Form into a cone shape for the snowman's cap. Press onto the top of the snowman's head. Press a tiny white ball onto the tip of the cap.

Step 6:

Press two twigs into the sides of the middle ball (torso) for arms.

Step 7:

Transfer the snowman onto a clean baking sheet. (Be sure to use one that can be devoted solely to polymer clay baking). Bake at low temperatures, according to manufacturer's instructions, for about an hour and a half.

Step 8:

When snowman is completely cooled, lightly coat the entire snowman with the clear glitter paint. Allow to dry overnight before displaying.
