Five Quick and Easy Preschool Christmas Crafts
By Joanna Young
Are you short on time but want to make a few nice Christmas crafts with your preschooler? These simple preschool holiday crafts are quick and inexpensive, using items around the house. Used Christmas wrapping paper, holiday catalogs, and Christmas cards are a few of the items that can be turned into creative and clever Preschool Christmas Crafts in a matter of minutes!
Christmas Card Book
Not sure what to do with all those Christmas cards? With a hole punch, some pretty Christmas ribbon, and a few holiday cards, you and your preschooler can create a cherished Christmas Card Book. Simply cut off the fronts of the cards, punch a few holes in each, and string them together with the ribbon. You'll end up with a lovely keepsake! (Save the backs of the cards for the next Preschool Christmas Craft.)Holiday Magnets
Got a few holiday catalogs around the house? Let your preschooler go through them, cutting out small holiday pictures (stockings, ornaments, bells, etc.). Glue the pictures to the discarded backs from the Christmas Card Book craft and cut them out. With tacky glue or hot glue, attach small magnets (found in craft stores). These holiday magnets make wonderful and inexpensive Christmas gifts, too!
Fancy Christmas Ornaments
Using some of the same holiday catalog pictures, you can make your own original Christmas ornaments. Simply glue the pictures to large Christmas ball ornaments and allow to dry. Then, with glitter fabric paint, outline the pictures to embellish your preschooler's beautiful semi-handmade ornaments.
Wrapping Paper Rose Bouquet
Green floral wire and discarded Christmas gift wrap make up this elegant Preschool Christmas Craft that will last beyond the holidays. To make a "rose", cut wrapping paper into long 2" strips. Bend the tip of the floral wire into a narrow loop. Twist the end of one of the strips of wrapping paper in and around the loop. Continue twisting and layering the wrapping paper until you end up with a beautiful paper rose. Twelve of these make up a gorgeous dozen roses for your Wrapping Paper Rose Bouquet.
Wrapping Paper Bud Vase
Trim a paper towel tube to fit your wrapping paper roses. Glue discarded wrapping paper around the paper towel tube and allow to dry. Cut three 1/2" slits in the bottom of the bud vase and flatten out to allow the vase to stand balanced. Place your preschooler's Wrapping Paper Rose Bouquet in the handmade bud vase and display as a table centerpiece!
