Skip Through the Seasons
Written by Stella Blackstone
Illustrated by Maria Carluccio

From the Preschool Book

"Jump into January, come along with me! The local pond is glazed with ice - what can you see? Fly into February, come along with me! The hillside glistens, white with snow - what can you see?"

About the Preschool Book

Skip Through the Seasons with your preschooler in this colorful and vivid seek-and-find book that teaches children all about the changing seasons. Lively full-page illustrations incorporate seek-and-find words with fun-filled scenes of children and communities enjoying the changing seasons. This 32-page preschool book is sure to keep your preschooler entertained and educated!

From the Reviewer - Joanna Young

Readers are the main characters in this interactive seek-and-find book. My son loved the way the author involved him in the reading experience with the phrases, "What can you see?" and "Come along with me!" Earmuffs, puddles, flower pots, and pumpkins are just a few of the items preschoolers are asked to seek out. While hunting for objects, my son and I were reminded of the fun and upcoming seasons while enjoying the present season. The author's brief rhyming sentences created a rhythmn that, combined with seek-and-find words and lively illustrations, kept his attention while teaching him about the changing seasons.

Educational

In addition to being interactive, Skip Through the Seasons is fun and educational. Not only does this preschool book present the various aspects of the changing seasons and how they affect the community, it also includes pages describing the Earth's positions, origins of the names of days and months, and teaches about other calendars such as Hindu, Hebrew, and Islamic. We also are taught days of the week in other languages. My son and I learned that Sonntag is German for Sunday; Jueves is Spanish for Thursday; and Samedi is French for Saturday.

Eye-Catching

Two children, one in a winter suit and the other in summer shorts, gleefully Skip Through the Seasons on the front cover of this lively preschool book. Whistling wind, sweet and warm spring rains, fruitful orchard trees...these are just a few aspects of the various seasons that your preschooler will learn about in this preschool book. Illustrator uses colorful gouache and paper collage techniques to create cheerful and vivid full-page illustrations that will catch and hold your preschooler's attention. Not just your average preschool paperback book, Skip Through the Seasons is approximately 9 x 9" in size -- perfect for fitting in your preschooler's lap!

Inspirational

Skip Through the Seasons will have you and your preschooler opening up your creativity, adding crafts such as the Touch and Feel Seasons Wallhanging to enhance your reading and learning experience. A great book for quality, one-on-one time with your preschooler, Skip Through the Seasons presents the changing seasons in a way that will have you and your preschooler wanting to do more seasonal activities, such as making Snowball Cookies or Flower Jewelry.

Excellent Gift Idea

A wonderful Christmas or holiday present, Skip Through the Seasons will delight your preschool children, nieces, nephews, or preschool friends. My son and I give this fun and educational preschool book five out of five winter snowflakes!
