Bumpus Hounds Paw Print Christmas Cards – A Christmas Story Craft

Have you introduced your preschooler to the movie, A Christmas Story yet? The turkey-stealing Bumpus Hounds from this holiday family favorite are the inspiration for this unique and simple preschool Christmas craft. Pop A Christmas Story into the DVD player and gather your family ‘round to create these adorable and easy Bumpus Hounds Paw Print Christmas Cards with your preschooler!

Cardstock paperRed poster paint
Green poster paint
Paper plates
Kitchen sponge
Green magic marker
Scissors
Cup
A quarter
How to Make It
Step 1:Use the rim of a cup to trace and cut a circle shape from the kitchen sponge. Tracing a quarter, cut another small circle shape from the rest of the sponge.
Step 2:
Pour a little bit of the red and green poster paints onto the paper plates.
Step 3:
Fold the cardstock paper in half. Point to the front of the card, showing your preschooler where to make the Bumpus Hounds paw prints.
Step 4:

Have your preschooler dip the larger sponge in the red poster paint, dab off the excess, and then place the sponge circle print on the front of the card. Repeat with the smaller sponge, making three circles above the larger one as in the diagram to the right.
Step 5:
Repeat step 4, using the green poster paint to create another Bumpus Hounds paw print as in the diagram.
Step 6:
With the green magic marker, write “Happy Paw-lidays”, “Merry Christmas” or whichever holiday greeting you prefer. Allow to dry.
Bumpus Hounds Paw Print Christmas Cards – A Christmas Story Craft can be decorated as lavishly as you wish! Sprinkle glitter over the painted paw prints before the paint dries, tie a red ribbon and glue on the corner of the greeting card or make tiny Bumpus Hounds paw prints all around the edge of the Christmas card with a magic marker.
