Thanksgiving Tree Centerpiece Craft

By Joanna Young

Combine the quiet beauty of Thanksgiving with the excitement of the upcoming Christmas season by creating this colorful Thanksgiving tree with your preschooler. Made to resemble a Christmas tree, the “branches” on this Thanksgiving tree are craft feathers which represent turkey feathers and the ornaments are traditional Thanksgiving shapes such as turkeys and pumpkins.

Materials You Will NeedDifficulty Level 3 out of 5

Colorful craft feathers
Styrofoam cone
Autumn cookie cutters
Felt squares (fall colors)
Yellow ribbon
Hole punch
Pen
Scissors

How to Make It

Buy at Amazon.comStep 1:

From the felt squares, trace and cut Thanksgiving shapes with the autumn cookie cutters.

Step 2:

With the hole punch, put a hole at the top of each Thanksgiving shape. String a small piece of the yellow ribbon into the hole and tie into a loop. These will be your Thanksgiving Tree Centerpiece ornaments.

Step 3:

Stick the craft feathers into the cone, placing them all around to resemble branches on a Christmas tree. Use large ones near the bottom and smaller ones near the top of the cone.

Step 4:

Hang the Thanksgiving Tree Centerpiece ornaments on the craft feather “branches”.

Step 5:

Tie a large bow from the leftover yellow ribbon and place at the top of the cone.

Place the Thanksgiving Tree Centerpiece along with your preschooler’s Easy Thanksgiving Placemats on your Thanksgiving table and enjoy these colorful additions to your family holiday decorations!
