Halloween Costume Craft – Strawberry

This Preschool Halloween Craft is perfect for even the youngest preschooler as most of the work will need to be done by an adult. Older preschoolers may be able to help cut out the materials needed, but an adult will need to do the stitching or hot-glueing. But whether your preschooler is only drawing the dots on the strawberry or helping to cut the felt fabric, this Halloween costume craft will provide that all-important quality time between you and your preschooler!

Materials You Will Need

2 yards red felt material
2 green felt squares
Hot glue or sewing machine
Scissors
Needle and thread
Black magic marker
Green ribbon

How to Make It

Step 1:

Cut two large strawberry shapes from the red felt material.

Step 2:

Stitch or hot glue the edges together (leaving open areas for the neck, arms and legs) as indicated by the black lines in the diagram.

Step 3:

Hand your preschooler the black magic marker and have him/her draw dots all over the front and back of the strawberry costume.

Step 4:

Cut several teardrop shapes from the green felt squares to form the leaves for the top of the strawberry. Arrange the shapes into a “flower” by overlapping the rounded ends. With the needle and thread, place a stitch in the center to hold the strawberry leaves together.

Step 5:

Center the green ribbon onto the strawberry leaf “flower”. Stitch the middle of it to the center of the flower to create a strap for tying onto your preschooler’s head.

Recommended Strawberry Costume Accessories

Have your preschooler wear a red leotard and tights or long sleeved red shirt and pants. Green socks or tennis shoes would also make a really cute addition to the strawberry costume!
