Sloppy Santa Miniature Holiday Craft

Magic Bubbles Oops! Santa is stuck and he's dropped his toys! You and your preschooler will get a kick out of creating this miniature fireplace scene featuring a very sloppy Santa. Using inexpensive materials and a few miniatures (found in the seasonal or dollhouse department of your crafts store), your preschooler can put together this humorous holiday craft that will surely bring a giggle to everyone who sees it.

Materials You Will NeedDifficulty Level 3 out 5

Empty cereal box
School glue
Black magic marker
Scissors
Red, black, and brown construction paper
Miniature foil gift boxes
Miniature teddy bear
Miniature toys

How to Make It

Step 1:

Lay the cereal box on its side. Cut a square (about 7x6") in the front to create the fireplace.

Step 2:

Spread glue thoroughly over the front and sides of the box. Cover with red construction paper and trim or wrap the edges to fit. With black magic marker, draw lines to create the look of bricks.

Step 3:

Draw and cut two Santa boot shapes from black construction paper. Cut two 3x1" rectangles from red construction paper for Santa's legs. Glue these to the inside of the box to look like his legs are dangling from the chimney.

Step 4:

Cut a 7x1" strip of white construction paper. Glue to the fireplace as the mantel.

Step 5:

Draw and cut stockings from the red construction paper. Make enough to represent your preschooler and sibling(s) and label them by name. Glue to the mantel.

Step 6:

Draw and cut Santa's bag from the brown construction paper. Glue upside down behind Santa's legs.

Step 7:

Glue down the gift boxes and teddy bear (and any other miniature toys you might find in the craft store) in and around the fireplace to look like they've fallen out of Santa's bag. Allow all the glue to dry and enjoy!

Helpful Hint:

If your preschooler has a short attention span, do all the pre-cutting before he sits down to help.
